Sophie Callies, Phd

Sophie joined Unicorn Hearts as an Expert Partner in immersive and interactive learning. Lead by Unicorn Hearts' ambitious vision, she is committed to advancing her work on the research and development of innovative educational solutions specifically tailored to support young learners in their personal development and growth.

Sophie has been involved in assessing the technological and technopedagogical execution of Unicorn Hearts' solution as part of the exploratory phase of its development. She also participated in evaluating and validating the stages of the solution’s R&D process.

​

Sophie co-founded Brainiak, where she leads strategic initiatives aimed at creating immersive and interactive learning experiences, ranging from online courses to educational escape games, 360° videos, and training programs based in the metaverse.

​

Her expertise, which spans corporate R&D, the application of artificial intelligence in education, and the development of technopedagogical strategies in professional training and teaching, serves as a key asset to Unicorn Hearts so that it can incorporate AI-supported technopedagogy best practices in the development of its solution.

Sophie has held roles as a research project manager, speaker, and course designer in college and university settings, contributing to disciplines such as cognitive sciences, neuroscience, and educational technologies. Her positions have allowed her to collaborate with renowned organizations, including the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the University of Montreal, and the Canadian Armed Forces.

Sophie holds a Ph.D. in Cognitive Computing and Artificial Intelligence from the University of Quebec in Montreal and TÉLUQ University, which she earned in 2016. She also holds dual Master's degrees in Neuroscience and Cognitive Sciences, as well as dual Bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Philosophy.
